Here is an unusual flowering plant that loves clay soils!
Cosmos Atrosanguineum Chocolate is so named due to its scent, reminiscent of a Hershey Bar. Its dark maroon flowers add a touch of sophistication to gardens and containers alike. This plant will grow between 1 and 2 ft tall and 1 ft wide. It works well with a variety of other plants and suggestions for its use range from a red only flowering garden, to mixed with yellows such as Thurnbergia, in front of tall sunflowers or mixed in with the new Ballad sunflower or Helenium Dakota Gold, both about its size, as a feature with shrubs and interspersed with white and purple flowers.
Once established it is drought-tolerant, it needs very little fertilization and will flower from June into September, making it one tough plant for all your discerning customers.
Cosmos Atrosanguineum can be found in the High Q Greenhouses Catalogue.
